Who Are We?

Computers for kids is an award-winning programme run by C4K: Community for kids CIC a Non-profit organisation in the south east of the UK founded by Colin Hill. We actively work together to find practical workable solutions regarding the inequality of digital access.

At Computers for Kids, we believe that every child deserves equal opportunities, regardless of their background or circumstances. That's why we collect old and donated computer devices such as Laptops, Mobile phones, Tablets, and PCs – any tool that a child can use to learn remotely, stay connected with loved ones, and enjoy entertainment. By doing so, we aim to bridge the digital divide and foster equality in our communities.

Our initiative is powered by the generosity of the public, as donations from individuals like you enable us to run this vital program. Thanks to your support, we've been able to directly and indirectly impact the lives of 90,000 school-age children. However, our journey doesn't stop there. We're committed to expanding our reach and impact, and soon we'll be extending our efforts to South West and Central London, as well as North Surrey, through partnerships with local organizations.

In March 2022, we proudly launched the 'Sponsor a Scholar' funding initiative. By contributing to this program, you directly support our efforts in providing computers to children and disabled individuals, ensuring they have the tools needed to thrive in the digital age. As the fund grows, we'll go even further in assisting these children by providing essential items like sports equipment and stationery, enhancing their educational experience.

Moreover, our impact is amplified through essential partnerships with renowned companies. Thanks to our collaboration with BT, families facing connectivity challenges due to financial constraints receive vouchers for free bandwidth. This helps them access the internet without limitations, ensuring they can fully participate in online learning and activities. Also, SEBS IT who donate storage space for us to distribute from.

Additionally, esteemed companies such as Rapha, 1st Central Insurance, and Technology Group have generously contributed their old Windows systems to our cause, bolstering our mission to provide devices to those in need. Partners like Lucidica, Hight Media, and Darren Cridge Real Estate have also joined hands to support the community.

Our relentless commitment to creating a positive impact has been recognized with The Corporate Livewire South of England Prestige Awards 2021/22. This prestigious accolade is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our incredible volunteers, who are the driving force behind our success.

Together, we can continue making a significant difference in the lives of disadvantaged children, ensuring they have the tools, resources, and support needed to flourish. Join us in shaping a brighter future and creating a world where every child has an equal chance to succeed. Your contribution, whether in the form of donated devices or financial support, is an investment in the next generation's potential and promise. Thank you for being a part of this transformative journey with Computers for Kids.

We are also partnered with many schools and also the charitable organisation TKAT, that governs many schools through the south-east along with multiple council and community outreach programmes.

Computers for kids are completely backed and funded by the public through donations that help us run the initiative and ensure hundreds of disadvantaged children in our communities are giving the tools and equipment needed to help close the inequality gap and help to bridge the digital divide.

The Bewbush Academy cannot thank Computers for Kids enough for the support they gave our children and families when it came to being able to access online learning. At the start of the latest lockdown we had over 130 children without access to a device, Colin and his team of volunteers worked swiftly to ensure each family at our school had at least one device they could share. It was a big operation I know, publicising the need for donations of laptops and tablets, collecting the devices, wiping them, repairing them, reinstalling software, barcoding them, delivering them…
The need for devices is still huge, even at our school we still have children that are sharing with their siblings and logistically this doesn’t really work. I would encourage anyone with a tablet or laptop they are no longer using to contact Computers for Kids – you can be sure your donation will truly make a difference.
